Today was a beautiful Northwoods day! The weather warmed up, we had some clouds this morning and then the sun came shining through. We woke up to a breakfast of fried eggs, sausage patties and English muffins. It was a regular schedule today with 1st and 2nd periods this morning and a free period. Lunch today was homemade mac and cheese, little smokies and Luigi’s Italian Ice for dessert. Today was also our first dance party lunch of the summer. The music started a little quiet and mellow, but didn’t stay that way for long. By the time they were done eating, everyone was on their feet dancing and singing. It was so fun! During rest period, two cabins cashed in on birthday wishes and played Trampball. I had a first row seat from my cabin porch watching them laugh and play.
This afternoon we had 3rd and 4th period followed by a free period that was all about preparing for tonight’s evening program…..the Chippewa Social!! After an amazing dinner of fajitas (one of my faves) our campers showered, combed their hair and some even put on cologne and waited patiently for the girls to arrive. Just after 7:30 pm the school buses rolled in filled with the Chippewa campers and counselors and the fun began. Kids had their face painted, dunked the PAs in the dunk tank, did the Coke or Pepsi challenge, and played games to earn tickets. They used their tickets to enjoy some popcorn, get a sticker or two and some gibbits for their crocs all while enjoying music played by our own in-house DJ, Jr Village Director Henry Anderson. The night ended with brownies before the girls boarded the buses to head back to Chippewa. Another great day for sure!
