August 5th: Once a Chuck… ALWAYS A CHUCK!

Hello and good morning from Camp Timberlane! We have to apologize for posting yesterday’s blog this morning: we had so much fun last night, hitting post slipped away from us! Yesterday started off with a bang: chocolate chip pancakes and sausage for breakfast. After a delicious start to the day, the boys headed back to their cabins for a quick clean-up before heading into 1st and 2nd periods of activities.

Since the day before was Cruiser Day, we slept in half an hour later. As such, we didn’t have a morning free period. Instead, we went right to lunch. Seeing as it was Tuesday, tacos were in order. We feasted on the tacos and headed back to the cabins for a rest period with full bellies. After some digestion time, the boys gathered on the athletic field for a huge game of capture the flag!

The day was already legendary, but then we unveiled the surprise of all surprises: the whole camp boarded buses and headed down to a Wausau Woodchucks baseball game! After a drive filled with tons of camp songs, we arrived at the stadium and packed the stands. Fordinner, we passed out ballpark hot dogs and chips (with a scrumptious mac and cheese alternative for the gluten-free and vegetarians among us). As we ate, the Woodchucks gave us a great show. Homerun after homerun kept the boys hooting and hollaring all game. To soothe the potentially hoarse throats, we finished the game off with ice cream for all! After the Chucks won 7-4, we boarded the buses and headed back to camp.

The festivities didn’t end with the Chucks’ big win though. As we pulled back into camp, we launched into an all-camp pizza party to see the “northern lights” (a drone with glow sticks attached). We danced, had a slice of pizza, and headed off to brush our teeth and go to bed. It might just have been the most jam-packed epic day in all of camp’s history, and today, we have even more surprises in store! We can’t wait to tell you what we’re up to, but until then…

Benches Up,
Joey Flom
