June 27th, 2025: Intercamp Games!

Hello from Camp Timberlane! From our intercamp games with Menominee to our evening campfire, we had quite an eventful day. It was one filled with laughter and friendly competition.
To start the day, we woke up to blueberry muffins and hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. After feasting, we had a cabin clean-up followed by first and second periods of activities. Athletics played trampball, guitars were shredded, and rock walls were scaled! After this, went went into our morning free period. This took us up to lunch, which today was some hearty chili and cornbread. It was a delicious meal that put some of us into a food coma during the following rest period and gave others the strength they needed for our afternoon activities.
Right from lunch the 12 and under boys hopped on a bus and headed towards camp Menominee for intercamp games. At the same time, the 13 and older campers from Menominee arrived at our camp for some friendly competition. The boys played with their hearts and had tons of fun: it was amazing to see them stick to our Camp Timberlane values when winning and losing. Their sportsmanship was a joy to witness and made the games all the more exciting to watch.
After the games ended, we had red beans and rice for dinner. Of course, we had canteen and more trampball during the after-meal free period. Following that short free period, we hosted a campfire. We sang traditional songs, heard campers sing new ones, listened to a reading of The Lorax and a sermonette on personal growth, and finished the campfire with a keylog ceremony.
Before heading to bed, we walked from the campfire area to the flagpole for our U.N. Day torch ceremony. Every session, we have a friendly competition within our own camp, and this session, we call it United Nations Day. The counselors and admin team selected 4 captains from each village to represent a team. Being selected to be a captain for your village is a huge honor and each camper that was chosen earned this honor by consistently upholding our camp values. The captains held their ceremonious torches, they were celebrated by the camp, and with that, we ended the evening. It was an amazing way to end the day, and what a day it was! We can’t wait for tomorrow to arrive, and until then…
Benches Up,
Joey Flom
