Greetings from Camp Timberlane! We’re the Assistant Programming Directors team, the crew behind planning, creating, and executing the evening programs and special days here at camp. For those who may not be familiar with our role, we’re the ones making days like today’s Heroes and Villains Day come to life. The day kicked off with an incredible Lazy Breakfast, cooked and served by our amazing admin team. Lines of excited, hungry campers wrapped around the Dining Hall as they ordered what we proudly believe is the best breakfast in the North Woods. After breakfast, we went right into the 3rd and 4th periods before enjoying a delicious lunch of pizza bread, courtesy of our fantastic kitchen staff. Right after lunch, campers signed up for the third and final activity series of First Session, which begins this Wednesday.
But the real surprise came in the afternoon: TimberWars, a Star Wars themed adventure we’ve been secretly planning. In this week’s mega EP, campers played as the Rebellion and had to take down one of our staff members playing the role of Vader. The action began with a Star Wars themed Gold Rush to gather materials and build an inhibitor chip to weaken Vader’s powers. From there, we launched into an epic game of Red Light, Green Light, followed by a whole camp showdown of Sharks and Minnows.
Dinner featured our second BBQ of the summer, with hot dogs, brats, baked beans, and jello always a crowd favorite. After a brief rainstorm perfectly timed to give us an intermission, the evening continued with more themed games. The night wrapped up with an intense ga-ga game that led to the ultimate finale: the Leader of the Empire getting thrown into the dunk tank! This was easily the highlight of the day, with campers cheering, laughing, and celebrating together.
Cheers!
