July 23rd 2024 – 1st Cruiser Day (late because we lost wifi)

A delayed hello from Camp Timberlane! We had a hiccup with the wifi last night, so yesterday’s blog is coming to you now! Yesterday was cruiser day, a special and favorite day at camp. Three times a session, each village has a special day. This week, the juniors went all around town and beyond with their cabins in individual vans. The intermediates stayed here and had the camp all to themselves. The seniors all hopped on a bus and had a crazy village day around Wisconsin.

Before the extravaganzas began though, we started the day with breakfast. Each cabin took a bin filled with bagels and fruit back to their cabins for a chill morning feast. After getting plenty of food in them, we schlepped the kids off to enjoy their exciting days.

The junior village got up to all sorts of fun. Some cabins went to Saxon Harbor, which is a beach on Lake Superior with sand dunes and piers to jump off of. Others went to Eagle river for mini golf and go karts, and one cabin even went to a lumberjack show! They had a really fun time yesterday and got to experience some of the wonders of Wisconsin.

The intermediates reveled at their control over camp. Each cabin got to participate in 6 activities of their choosing: some rock climbed, others free swam, and of course everyone did trampball and skiing. The counselors from each cabin also went out to pick up lunch for their cabins’. Some cabins indulged in the local chinese food while others ate a classic culvers meal. They finished the day with an outdoor BBQ and a super fun evening program.

The seniors had quite the adventure: they started the day with a drive down to the WIsconsin Woodchucks baseball stadium for a massive game of kickball. Each camper picked out a walk up song and the massive game had everyone smiling. After leaving the stadium, the boys headed to Big Bear to play a game of minigolf. They got up to lots of other festivities throughout the day (including lots of ice cream and pizza) but concluded with a classic trip to The Waters. The Waters is a hotel here in town with an awesome indoor waterpark. The boys rode slides, chilled in the hottub, and played water basketball. It was such an amazing time for them and helped form memories they’ll never forget.

It was such an awesome day with so many unique experiences for the campers. Today is bound to be full of more fun and surprises, and until tonight…

Benches Up!
