Hello from Camp Timberlane! Although we just sent out yesterday’s update, we’re gonna keep the information flowing and talk about what made today so amazing. Because yesterday was so jam packed, we slept in a half an hour later today. Once the breakfast bell rang, we were treated to a cheesy egg and hashbrown breakfast. After stuffing our faces, we sent the boys back to their cabins for a quick clean up.
We then jumped into our second series of activities. The first and second periods went off without a hitch: the boys really love getting instruction and space to develop their skill sets. Since we woke up later today, we didn’t have a morning free period. Instead, we went straight into lunch once the clock struck 1:00, which today was yummy chicken quesadillas.
When we finished up, we had a short time to rest before starting the third and fourth periods of activities. Some boys got to play volleyball, others mountain bikes, and of course some got in their ski runs. It was a great start to the second series of activities.
After this, we entered our afternoon free period, which of course, was filled with trampball. There were also plenty of board games available, pickleball to play, and the lakefront was open for a free swim. This led up to dinner, which was breathtaking: we indulged in honey garlic chicken, broccoli and rice. The sauce on the chicken was beyond good and had the kids practically begging for more.
To conclude the night, we had held a classic evening program: counselor hunt! The counselors hid all around camp as the boys searched and brought them into gain points for their blue and white teams. It was an evening full of lots of running and smiles.
Once everyone was accounted for, we walked out to the flagpole to announce the Titans Day captains. Each session, we have one competitive day where the camp is split into four teams. This day takes a lot of preparation, so a week in advance (today), we select four campers from every village to help lead their teams. Tonight’s ceremony was so fun to watch: each camper that was picked had huge smiles and contagious glee. They all earned it and we’re so proud of their leadership abilities.
Today was a mix of normalcy, tradition, and fun. We had a great time all around, and who knows what surprises tomorrow will bring. Until then…
