July 24th: Highlights from Another Great Day at Camp

The day began with a classic breakfast of pancakes and bacon at 8:30 AM. After breakfast, cabins returned to prepare for the daily Cabin Clean-Up. Each morning, our village directors walk through the cabins to inspect and score their efforts. Results are announced at lunch, and with the promise of an ice cream party after three wins and a pizza party after seven, campers take this challenge seriously.

Some campers got an even earlier start this morning, heading out before breakfast to compete in a waterski tournament at Camp Kawaga. Representing Timberlane were Brady Dawson, Carson Crane, Charlie Milverstadt, Cooper Weinstein, Charlie Duffy, Jordan Freund, Asher Kaplan, and Eli Lang. The team performed especially well in Slalom and had strong showings in both Wakeboarding and Barefooting. Their strong performances were matched by the respect and enthusiasm they showed throughout the tournament.

Back at camp, the regular activity schedule kicked off at 10:00 AM. Just as activities began, the gray morning clouds cleared and the sun came out for a beautiful day in the Northwoods. Morning offerings included Archery, Arts and Crafts, Athletics, Basketball, ComedySportz, Disc Sports, Fishing, Mountain Biking, Rocketry, Sailing, Tennis, Waterskiing, and Weights.

After a free period, lunch was served at 1:00 PM. Today’s meal featured pizza bread along with plenty of fresh options at the salad bar. Rest period followed, giving everyone time to recharge before returning to afternoon activities. Campers chose from Baseball, Golf, Guitar, Lacrosse, Paddleboarding, Photography, Pickleball, Pottery, Rock Climbing, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, and more time on the lake and in the weight room.

The afternoon ended with another free period. Many campers headed to the waterfront to swim or jumped into a game of Trampball.

Dinner tonight was a camp favorite: chicken fajitas. To close out the day, we gathered for the final round of Blue and White Games. Tonight’s event featured Swedish Longball, a fast-paced mix of kickball and running that quickly became a crowd favorite. It was a high-energy and fun way to end another great day at camp.

Benches up, until tomorrow.
