July 23rd: Karaoke Night!

Hello from the serene northwoods! Even though we had some dew throughout the afternoon and evening, we made sure to pull out the stops and have a fun day! The day started with no rain and a scrumptuous breakfast: this morning we dined on egg McMuffin sandwiches with sausage. After the nourishing breakfast, we sent the boys back to their cabins for a cabin clean-up. Today marked Iroquois cabin’s 8th cabin clean-up win in a row! Their cleanliness is being rewarded with a pizza party!
After the cabin clean-up, the boys headed out to first and second period. We got in some skiing, rock climbing, and archery! The boys got a full first and second period. At 12:00, we headed into our morning free period. It started drizzling a little bit during the free period, so we closed the tramps in favor of rec hall and yard games! By the time lunch was ready, we had all worked up quite an appetite. For lunch, we had chicken quesadillas: they were delicious!
We finished lunch and headed back to the cabins for a rest period and to prepare for the evening’s program… Karaoke night! Each cabin selected a song and planned a routine to perform in front of the whole camp. After resting, the cabins danced, prepared, and sang until they had perfected their performance. This took them up until rainy day activities started. While the rain came down, we had some fun! We played shuffleboard and ping pong at the rec hall, guitar, card games, and bingo in the lodge, and soccer and gaga on the athletic fields!
We made sure to pack it all in before dinner, which tonight was a yummy pasta bake! After refueling, we headed out to the rec hall to watch Karaoke night. We passed out canteen and packed the bleachers as we watched each cabin perform their hearts out! The younger boys were so cute dancing on stage, and the older boys made us crack up with their humorous ideas. It was such a fun and funny evening that had the boys heading back to their cabins with smiles.
We might have had a little rain, but we also had a lot of fun. Rain or shine, we make it happen! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow, until then…
Benches Up,
Joey Flom
