July 25, 2025: Friday Fun!

Good evening from the Northwoods! It was another great Friday here at camp. It all started with a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast, a hearty way to get ready for the day. We had a pretty typical morning scheduled, a routine cabin clean up and then right into activities!

It was a beautiful morning for all activities, regardless if you were waterskiing or playing tennis, the sun was shining on you! Today is the last day of the activity series so campers were putting to test all the skills they learned over the last week. Tomorrow they will sign up for a new series of activities and possibly try something they have never done before!

For lunch we had a camp favorite, Sloppy Joes! The meals were on point this Friday and every belly left the lodge full. Everyone enjoyed a restful rest period before starting the afternoon excitement. This afternoon our 12 year old and under’s headed over to Camp Horseshoe for some intercamp games! They had a lot of friendly competition playing sports like basketball, baseball, and ultimate frisbee. The older boys of Horseshoe came to Timberlane for the same competitions. It was a great afternoon packed with high energy games and enthusiastic cheers. It is always nice participating in intercamp games, it’s a great experience for everyone.

Once the boys returned from Horseshoe, we had an amazing dinner of honey garlic glazed chicken, rice and broccoli. Everyone was very pleased with this meal and it was an amazing finish to a great Friday of feasts. And being Friday, that means it was a campfire for Evening Program!

The entire camp gathered around the campfire ring for another classic Friday night fire. We started, as always, with our song leaders leading us in classics like Alouette and Bazooka Bumblegum and Johnny Rebeck! A delightful story came next followed by some guitar songs, which had the whole camp singing along. We always end the campfire on a more serious note. Our Junior Village Director, Henry Anderson, said some wise words about how we can learn from our failures and use them to help us succeed. We then moved into our keylog ceremony, where campers can give recognition or thanks to someone special to them. It really was the perfect way to end an amazing day!

We can’t wait to share with you what is happening tomorrow! Stay tuned and have a great evening.

Benches Up,

Ryan McDonough
