July 15th: The First Day of Activities!

Hello, and we hope you’re doing well: this is Camp Timberlane reporting on another awesome day!  It was a sunny day up here, perfect for the start of our activities. Before we got to activities, though, we had to wake up and make it to breakfast at 8:30. Today, we ate hard-boiled eggs and bacon for breakfast. It was a protein-packed meal that gave us the energy to do cabin clean-up before launching into Activities.
First and second period went off without a hitch today. Some of the boys skied for the very first time today, others scaled the rock wall for the first time today, and everyone had an awesome time! It was a successful morning of activities that led into the morning free period. After some trampball for many and tushball for some, we had a taco Tuesday lunch. Of course, we had to wash these down with some sweet Italian ice for dessert.
After such a hearty lunch, we needed to take a rest to digest. The rest period lasted until 3:00, which is when third and fourth periods started. Again, so many firsts happened during this time. We had first times riding a bike, first times doing a low ropes course, and first times doing pottery. It was a joy to see all the courageous campers trying new things.
After fourth period ended, we had another trampball filled free period. This was followed by a wash-up bell and a Pizza dinner. We stuffed our bellies and expected to finish dinner with canteen, but little did we know, tonight’s evening program was all about Sam Kahn stealing all the Candy! Working together as cabin groups, the kids ran around camp solving riddles and questions to find where Sam was hiding the candy. After a long and hard search, the cabins found the secret stash at Sam’s house. Once we all got our well-deserved candy, the boys were sent off to their cabins to unwind before bed.
It was an awesome day up here in the northwoods. We had a lot of fun getting to witness the start of second session activities and can’t wait to see how the campers develop in their skills as camp goes on. We’re so excited for tomorrow, and until then…
Benches Up,
Joey Flom
