July 16th: Rainy Day Fun!!!

Hello from Camp Timberlane. It was a rainy day up here in the northwoods, but we didn’t let that stop us from having tons of fun. With some quick adjustments and pre-planning, we made a rainy day to remember!
The day started off with an 8:00 o’clock bell and an 8:30 breakfast. This morning, we had French toast with strawberry compote and bacon, a personal favorite breakfast of mine. After a sweet and syrup-filled breakfast, we headed back to the cabins for cabin clean-up. Once the cabins were sparkly clean, we got hit with some rain, so we headed into our first rainy day of the session. We had board games in the lodge, gaga in the arena, and games in the rec hall.
This lasted until lunch, which today was corn dogs and french fries. For dessert, we were treated to Brain Strain’s famous double chocolate chunk cookies. One cookie wasn’t nearly enough; it has become a new camp classic! After stuffing our faces, we had a short rest period to digest the meal. It was still raining during the afternoon, so we programmed in some outdoor rainy day fun! The boys grouped up by villages and did 3 rotations. They swapped between gaga and golf, volleyball and rec hall games, and dodgeball in the bouldering cave. It’s sometimes tricky trying to figure out a way to keep everyone safe and active in the rain, but this afternoon went off without a hitch! It was a great time that took us up until dinner, which tonight was teriyaki chicken.
After dinner, the boys were dismissed for a short free period to grab canteen before the evening program began. Tonight, the boys played blue and white games! Thankfully, it stopped raining during dinner, so we could use some of the courts. The oldest boys faced off in bombardment, some campers played tennis baseball, and others played tushball. It was a fun and spirited evening. After each team racked up a ton of points, the evening program came to an end and the boys headed to bed.
It was a rainy but fun day here. We had a relaxing morning and an active evening: our fingers are crossed for sun tomorrow because of course we have some more surprises to unleash. Until then…
Benches Up,
Joey Flom
