Greetings from the cutest little town in the world, Minoqua Wisconsin. Camp is off with a bang; we had an awesome second day here. Even though we had some formalities to complete for safety’s sake, we made sure to have a ton of fun throughout the process.
We started the day with an 8:30 breakfast. Today we dined on chocolate chip pancakes and sausage. It was a delicious meal that fueled us up for a quick cabin clean-up before we launched into village rotations. The juniors, intermediates, and seniors switched between three stations. They learned the rules for trampball, tushball, and the trips program. After this, the villages took their swim tests. This took us up to lunch, which today was grilled cheese and tomato soup.
After lunch, we had a short rest period, which was then followed by activity sign-ups. Each cabin got to take a look at all the activities offered and choose their dream schedule. Starting with the juniors, the campers picked their schedules for the coming week. As cabins finished signing up, they launched into cabin games. Each cabin battled another in a sport of their choosing; the juniors played bombardment, Apache and Cherokee played tushball, and the oldest cabins played ultimate frisbee.
The afternoon was a ton of fun, and it took us up to flagpole and dinner, which tonight was a rich chicken and vegetable stir fry. After dinner, we explained the rules for our night’s evening program, Capture the Flag. The boys (being split into blue and white teams) were tasked with using their canteen sugar rush to capture as many flags as possible. It was a game to remember; the boys played with heart and permanent smiles. One look onto the athletic field tonight and you could tell: second session has begun!
It was a great day! We made sure to check off the boxes without sacrificing the fun! We can’t wait for activities to start tomorrow and the other surprises we have in store. Until then…
Benches Up,
Joey Flom
