Who's Who at Camp - December, 2019

Hi Folks,

We hope everyone is excited about the holiday! A little vacation, some relaxation, maybe some excitement (?) can be very helpful this time of year. So we hope you all have plans to kick back a bit and spend some time with your family and friends.

We have been having the BEST time with our reunion travels. We’ve seen camp folks in so many cities over the past few months, and it’s been a blast! We still have reunions coming up in Dallas and Denver, plus a return to St. Louis at the end of January, a camping conference in San Diego, and then a meeting of all our directors and assistant directors here in Tucson in February. Good times are still coming up!!

We’ve had some issues with our website very recently, resulting in the disappearance of our first blog of this month. WELCOME BACK TO THE FOLLOWING “OLD-TIMERS” WHO HAVE RE-ENROLLED THIS MONTH:

WELCOME ABOARD TO THE FOLLOWING FIRST-YEAR CAMPERS WHO WILL JOIN US THIS SUMMER:

JACK FLORY of Glencoe, IL; CARTER & COOPER RAMIREZ of Highland Park, IL; BENNETT & DREW GARFINKEL, CHARLIE GLASS and ARI LOURIE of St. Louis, MO; ALEX KIM of Long Grove, IL; and MIKE COHN and HEATH ESTEPP of Memphis, TN.

We are going to enjoy our winter holiday, turn the corner into spring, and before you know it, we will be together at camp! It’s so exciting!!!

This really is pretty crazy. We are rockin’ the staff this year!! Although that’s true every year, this year we have seen so much enthusiasm so early! That’s amazing. It means our staff CAN’T WAIT to get to camp and spend time with their campers! And in case you’re wondering, already at this early date our staff represents over 370 Timberlane summers of experience.

DILLON BERLIN	This is summer number 10 for Dillon, who is from Glencoe, IL. Dillon will be 18 years old this summer and is currently a senior at New Trier High School. He will be a Junior Counselor this summer helping out in various activities.
JOE BURSON	Joe is 21 years old and is originally from Toledo, OH. He is a graduate of Hocking College with a degree in Ecotourism & Adventure Leadership, and he is currently working as an outdoor educator. This will be Joe’s 3rd summer at camp, and he will again be a part of our amazing Trip Leading staff.
TYLER DEUTSCH	Tyler is back for his 7th summer at camp. He will be 17 years old this summer, and he comes from St. Louis where he is a junior at Ladue High School. Tyler will be a Junior Counselor and will help out in various activities. *Something you may not know about Tyler:* “I like to go fly fishing.”
CARLOS DORANTES BANUELOS	It is summer number 7 coming up for Carlos!! All the way from San Martin, Mexico, Carlos returns to camp. He will be 26 years old this summer, and he has a degree in International Relations. Carlos works as a Recruiter for IENA, which places international staff members into American summer camps. We are happy to welcome Carlos back again. Something you may not know about Carlos: “I have 170 skydives already!”
JOEY FLOM	JoFlo is back for his 9th summer at camp! He lives in St. Louis where he is a senior at MICDS. He is 18 years old and he will be a Junior Counselor heading up our Comedy Sportz program and helping out in other activities.
ZACHARY HEARST	Zachary is 18 years old and he is back for his 7th summer at camp. He is a senior at Ladue High School. This summer he will be a Junior Counselor and will jump in to a variety of activities.
DAVID HEIMAN	This will be David’s 11th summer at camp, and he is 20 years old. David is from Glencoe, IL and is currently a sophomore at Syracuse University studying Sports Management. He is a Senior Counselor and he will help with Golf, Fishing, Comedy Sportz and more. Something you may not know about David: “I’ll be interning for a New York state rep next semester.”
ARI KADEN	Ari is back for his 8th summer at camp. He will be 17 years old this summer, and he is from Highland Park, IL where he is a junior at HPHS. Ari will be a Junior Counselor getting involved in a variety of activities.
ANDREW KERPEL	Summer number 6 coming up for Andrew. He is from Highland Park, IL and is a junior at HPHS. Andrew is 17 years old, and he returns as a Junior Counselor helping with several activities.
JARED LETWAT	Jared is from Deerfield, IL, and returning for his 9th summer. He will be 17 this summer and he is a junior at Deerfield HS. Jared will be a Junior Counselor helping out in various activities.
CHARLIE LOVETT	Charlie is from Los Angeles, CA and he will be 17 years old this summer. He is a high school junior and plays on his school’s golf team. This is summer number 9 coming up for Charlie, and he will be a Junior Counselor helping with Golf and other activities.
JOSH MEYER	Josh returns to camp for his 9th summer. He is from Chicago, IL and is a senior at Walter Payton High School. Josh will be 18 years old this summer, and he will be a Junior Counselor heading up our Disc Sports program and helping out at several other activities.
ADAM POGER	Adam will be 18 years old this summer, and he is a Junior at Ladue High School in St. Louis. This is his 9th summer coming up at camp! Adam will be a Junior Counselor and will help out with several activities.
VLADIMIR RANGEL	Vlad is back! This will be his 2nd summer at camp, and he returns again as a Trip Leader. Vlad is Pachuca, Mexico, and he is 26 years old. He has a degree in Environmental Sciences & Sustainable Development. He likes to get around and he loves hiking and camping, including a lengthy solo trip in South America last year.
JUAN RODRIGUEZ	After a summer off last year, we’re happy to welcome Juan back to camp. This will be his 4th summer at camp, and he is 24 years old. Juan is from Pasto, Colombia where he is studying English and Spanish at the University of Nariño. His goal is to become a teacher. His years of camp kitchen experience will come in handy as he will be our Assistant Cook this summer! Something you may not know about Juan: “I always dreamed since I started at camp to have the position that I will have at camp this summer so I cannot believe it yet. Being an assistant cook is going to be super amazing!”
ARI SINGER	Welcome back to Ari for his 10th summer at camp! Ari is from St. Louis and is currently a sophomore at the University of Delaware, studying Business. Ari will be a Cabin Counselor, will head up our Floor Hockey program, and will also be a Village Director this summer. He is 20 years old.
SAM SIWAK	Summer number 8 coming up for Sam. He is a junior at Clayton High School in St. Louis. Sam is 17 years old and he will be a Junior Counselor helping with a wide range of activities.
JAVVY VALLEJO	Javvy is back for his 8th summer at camp. He is from Cleveland Heights, OH where he is a high school junior. Javvy will be 17 years old this summer, and he will be a Junior Counselor pitching in with a variety of activities.
