July 20, 2025: Wrapping up the 4th series of Activities

Today was an unremarkable day, in that it was yet another day of amazing weather, excited and active campers, and the final day of our 4th series of activities.  The counselors are asked to make every day a special one in their activity areas, but the last days tend to be full of the most stories of campers making one last attempt to accomplish a goal or finish a creative project.  Walking around to the activities today, campers were putting the final touches on some arts and crafts projects involving birch bark, our pottery participants were preparing to glaze some pinch pots and mugs, and in the athletic disciplines, there were a lot of scrimmages and last rounds of favorite skill-based games.
After a lunch of mac and cheese, we had some CITs from a nearby camp come by to tour our camp and learn how our program and site differ from their own, and it was a cool reminder of how different summer camps are from each other even when they have such similar goals.   This particular group was very interested in our trips program since ours is 100% elective, and they do things a bit differently.   By the end, our CITs learned a great deal from our visitor’s questions about how different ways of structuring a camp experience can still reach similar goals extremely successfully.
This evening’s EP was a mystery: “All Camp Clue.”  The campers have to question a panel of highly suspicious staff members, all of whom might have a motive for the untimely demise of a fellow staff member.    It’s a race against the other teams, so being quick of foot and also of mind made for an exciting chase of the truth, and eventually, Sioux cabin figured out the suspect, accomplice, weapon, room, and motive first out of all the other teams.   The staff get to be the suspects, and they enjoy playing an over-the-top part for the night. It ended well, and turned out everyone was alright after all. Thank heavens!
That was the day here. I hope yours was as fun as ours was.  Thanks for reading!
Best wishes
