Today we tried something new, and it was a thrill to watch it go as well as it did. We started the day with picture day, which wasn’t something new, but the weather was perfect and with some light cloud cover, we had minimal squinting. Success!
After that was done, we had our last “Open Houses” so our first session campers could get a last ski run, archery round, or climb of the wall. It was great to see the campers giving something “one last try” for this summer. We definitely had some campers who appreciated one last ski run in particular, as a few kids FINALLY got up for their first time.
This afternoon, the campers had back-to-back blue and white events to wrap up the session. Before dinner we had the camper favorite, the Camper Hunt, where the campers hide and the counselors seek. After dinner, the Blue & White Marathon was held, which was 44 legs of fun and adventure. There were feats of strength, speed-based competitions, and even trivia and building tasks. Most exciting was that the Blue team went into the day with a commanding lead, but by the end, the White team got the win for this session. A definite high point of the day was the ice-cream party we held afterwards for all the kids to celebrate a great session of Blue & White events. After the ice cream the PA’s threw Sam in the lake!
Tomorrow is packing day for our first session campers, and while it’s a sad day we also know we have an incredible second session planned for our 8-weekers and new arrivals, and we’ll keep you informed on all the fun in future blog posts. For now, thanks for reading and have a great weekend. We will see some of you very soon! 🙂
Best wishes,
