August 5th 2024 – A Rainy Day

Some mornings, it doesn’t take much to excite our community. Coffee cake day is usually a pretty exciting start.  This morning, the kitchen delighted the masses with our first (for this summer) meal of chocolate-chip pancakes and sausage patties.  The reaction was STRONG, especially for 8:30am.  Fortunately, the kitchen met the challenge, and deliciousness was accomplished.  They continued the day with a hat trick of great meals, including tacos for lunch and the camp favorite of hot wings for dinner.  We ate very well today.

It was an otherwise pretty normal day.  It was the second-to-last day of activities, and unfortunately, it started raining during the fourth period and the rain looks to persist well into the night. Our evening program had to be shifted to blue and white games, but indoor versions tonight. Does Bingo count as a game of skill? If you play it right, it does!
The temperature dropped to a pleasant low-70s as well, which has helped.  Tomorrow is cruiser day, so for our last time this summer, we will send cabins out in vans, on a bus, or give them the run of the camp facilities.  Sometimes it’s a relaxed day, but we have to start getting ready for our post-camp program, which is exciting but we are also very sad to be ending this community we have built at camp this summer.  The boys have been an amazing group to watch learn and grow, and our staff has worked SO hard to give them a great summer.  You will get to hear all about it in a few days, and hopefully the stories your camper tells you will start to make sense of some of the photos in our galleries!
Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
