August 4th 2024 – Last Lazy Breakfast

After the high-energy excitement of Titan’s Day yesterday, a slow start to the morning was just what we needed. Today’s breakfast was our final Lazy Breakfast of the summer. From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., the admin team, assisted by six campers, served a delicious breakfast. Campers enjoyed eggs cooked to order in a variety of styles, along with toast, bacon, and cereal.

After breakfast, four campers set off on an exciting three-day climbing trip to the breathtaking North Shore. Back at camp, we dived into cabin clean-up and an inspection before moving on to our usual morning activities. There’s something truly magical about walking around camp while all the activities are in full swing. The bonds that have formed here—between cabin counselors, activity directors, and campers—are truly special. As a parent of a two-year-old and a four-year-old who are both at camp, this place has become even more special to me. Watching campers of all ages interact with my children is one of the most heartwarming experiences. The campers not only engage in high-fives and rock-paper-scissors tournaments but also show genuine kindness and care. They look out for my boys and nurture them in such a meaningful way. It’s been truly beautiful to see the special bonds my children have formed over the past two months. This is what I call the magic of camp, and I’m thrilled that they’re now part of this extraordinary experience.

The weather today has been so pleasant—slightly overcast and cooler compared to previous days. Lunch featured delicious pizza bagels and a tossed salad. During rest period, campers watched a staff Ultimate Frisbee game, which was a blast. In the afternoon, they enjoyed their third and fourth activity periods, followed by a fun free period with options like Trampball, Free Swim, Arts and Crafts, and more.

The day ended with a relaxed movie night in our Rec Hall. Everyone enjoyed Captain America.

This summer has flown by: we’ve made amazing memories, forged new friendships, grown through our activities, and built a fantastic community here at Camp Timberlane. We still have a lot of camp ahead and some really exciting activities in store, but I can’t help wanting to soak up every moment a little more.
