July 21st 2024 – Casino Night

It was a great day at Camp Timberlane! Each Sunday, we start the day slow with a lazy breakfast. From 8:30-9:30, campers strolled into the lodge to order eggs their way. We had omelettes, scrambled eggs, bullseyes, and even a mystery egg combination (which today was hot wings and tomatoes!) It was a lovely and very chill way to start our morning.

After a quick cabin clean up and inspection, we launched into first and second periods of activities. Since we woke up later, we didn’t have a morning free period. Instead, we went straight into lunch, which today was tostadas with chicken, refried beans, and all the fixings.
Once lunch was over, we signed up for the second series of activities. It’s hard to believe that we’re already signing up for a second time this session, but it shows how time really flies by when you’re having fun. We turned the central area into a sign up palooza, having the kids walking around the tables to see all the options available. This led us up to third and fourth periods of activities, which went smoothly.
After fourth period ended, we had all the boys head into the lodge for an  announcement about tonight’s special evening program: Casino Night!!! This program is an all time camp favorite: the boys dressed up in fanciful clothing, making sure that they stood out when they gambled with fake money across camp. After passing out money, filling out prize sheets, and learning the rules of the night, we went outside for our outdoor hotdog BBQ.
Once dinner ended, we jumped into the evening program. The costumes were awesome to see: each kid wore something funnier than the next. Some kids won big money, others learned an important lesson in gambling at a young age, and overall there was just so much fun in the air. Today was an amazing day, and who knows what surprises we have in store for tomorrow. Until then…
