Embracing the Drizzle
This morning kicked off with an energizing breakfast of fluffy pancakes and savory sausage, setting the perfect tone for a chilly, overcast day. Right after breakfast, three different wilderness trips: the Brule River, The Flambeau River and the Porcupine Mountain Trip departed. Meanwhile, back at camp, teams gathered for their inaugural UN Day meetings.The four teams dove into strategizing for the upcoming big day, crafting chants to fuel their enthusiasm, and fostering strong bonds among teammates. It was another great morning here at camp.
After a thorough cabin clean-up, we started our first periods of activities. Our counselors did a fantastic job bringing lots of energy and positivity to their activities. Despite the persistent weather, laughter, smiles and lots of energy were found everywhere in camp. It’s days like today that showcase the magic of summer camp – the joy in small moments, the strong bonds of friendship and the community that has been built over the past few weeks.
During the free period before lunch, campers enjoyed different activities. Some participated in intense games of trampball and tushball, while others enjoyed quality time with their friends in the central area. By lunchtime, appetites were hearty and ready for delicious chicken burritos. The raspberry white chocolate cookie dessert proved to be a standout, quickly becoming a new camp favorite. After a rejuvenating rest period in their cabins, campers geared up eagerly for the afternoon’s activities.
The afternoon remained cloudy and chilly but that didn’t stop anyone from having a great third and fourth period of activities. This was the last day of the second series so everyone was finishing up their projects and testing their new skills they learned over the last week. We ended the afternoon with a fun packed free period followed by a delicious spaghetti dinner feast with green beans and garlic bread.
Wrapping up another exciting day at summer camp, we closed out with a classic favorite: Star Wars Rogue One! Our campers gathered in the Rec Hall for an epic movie night. For those looking for a different kind of activity, the Lodge was buzzing with energy as campers engaged in lively rounds of board games.
