July 27th: Alien Invasion

Greetings from the Northwoods! It was another amazing day at Camp Timberlane. It started off like any other day here: an 8:00 wake-up bell followed by an 8:30 breakfast. Today we dined on egg McMuffin sandwiches. After getting in our morning protein, we headed back to the cabins for a cabin clean-up. After inspection at 9:35, we rang the 10:00 bell to signify the start of activities.
The boys had first and second periods of activities until our noon free period. We had the tramps open, board games out, and because it was a hot one, we kept the sprinklers running on the athletic field. This took us up to lunch, which today was euros with homemade tzatziki and pita. It was a delicious meal that put some of us into a nap during the rest period that followed.
After letting the kids recharge in their cabins for a bit, we launched into third and fourth periods of activities. Today was the last day of our fifth series of activities, so the activity heads made sure to finish the series with a bang. Disc sports played an epic game of ultimate frisbee, golf played the great Timber Open, and a couple of campers attempted to ski on a canoe paddle today during their activity period! It was an awesome end to series five! We were led from fourth period into our afternoon free period. Of course, we opened the tramps, but the real excitement was happening down at the swimming area. It was the perfect day for a free swim, and the boys made sure to take advantage!
After a swimming and trampoline filled free period, we headed to flagpole and dinner, which tonight was “marry me chicken”. This dinner might be one of my all-time camp favorites: it was absolutely delicious! After stuffing our faces, we got canteen and jumped into the night’s evening program, Alien Invasion! Tonight, the camp was overrun by aliens, and it was up to the campers to save our camp! After playing a bunch of fun games to protect the camp from the invasion, the campers were victorious! It was a fun program that took us to our bedtime routines. Campers got their meds, freshened up, and headed to bed. It was an awesome day filled with tons of surprises, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow. Until then…
Benches Up,
