Hello from the Northwoods! We had an absolutely stunning day filled with all sorts of surprises and fun. It all started with cheesy omelets and hash browns for breakfast followed by an extremely effective cabin clean up. The sun was shining for all the morning activities. Things were shaping up to be a pretty spectacular afternoon.
After we chowed on some BBQ chicken sandwiches and tater tots, the big surprise of the day was revealed! We were hosting “Pickle Fest” during the afternoon rest period. A celebratory hour honoring Sam “Pickles” Kahn’s 25th summer at Camp Timberlane. We had a pickle tasting station, pickle tattoos, pickle lemonade, and even fried pickles! Which was an absolute hit! The campers and staff had a blast doing all of Sam’s favorite things around camp.
The festivities worked up quite the appetite for a delightful meatloaf dinner. The mashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots were some of the best sides of the session! A perfect meal to bring everyone together before our big Legacy Legends campfire. This campfire is very special here at Camp, as we honor those who are spending their 10th, and in tonight’s case, 25th summer at Timberlane.
Tonight’s campfire was filled with stories, gratitude, and acknowledgment of the dedication shown by the legacy legends being honored. They have shown a commitment to camp that goes beyond themselves and they serve as an inspiration to us all. And what better way to end a night of celebration than with delicious cake!
The entire camp headed straight back into the lodge for a little sweet treat as the final festivities of the day! It was the perfect end to a dang near perfect day. Thanks for reading along and we can’t wait to write to you all again tomorrow!
