Days of Camp – July 24th

Hi Folks,

We are having so much fun up here at camp this session. The first week just flew by! Since the busses drove in, we have been having nonstop fun. This blog will summarize and highlight the past week at camp.

Highlights from the past week

This past week we started 2nd session off big. The boys arrived on Sunday, and we had cabin games and the traditional spaghetti dinner.

Monday, we got through all of our physicals and swim assessments. It was a warm day which made the water feel great! The humidity turned to rain and slowed the boy’s ability to play their first game of Trampball. Monday night, we had our staff scavenger hunt, and the campers had a great opportunity to meet the staff.

Tuesday was picture day and our first day of activities. The pictures went fast, and we had a lot of great smiles. The boys were happy to get into activities and be done with the “red tape.” Tuesday, we also sent out our first trip to Devils Lake for some rock climbing. Tuesday night, we had our first blue and white event, capture the flag. The boys ran and got some energy out.

Wednesday was a typical day with activities and free periods. The boys were very happy getting back into our normal day. The day ended with blue and white games. The boys played ultimate frisbee, soccer, bombardment, and more. Thursday was also a normal day of activities; the boys were happy to be waterskiing and enjoying their activities.

We mark the end of the week at camp with a campfire. This week we had our first campfire of 2nd session that included songs, a story, and guitar music. We also had wise words from a counselor about how important it is to live in the moment.

It is hard to believe that the boys have already signed up for the next series of activities on Saturday. We had some misty weather, but we got all our activity periods in. That night we had a counselor hunt where the boys found the staff that hid in the woods. This was a white and blue team event, and both teams found some mystery counselors.

We start every Sunday with a lazy breakfast full of omelets and bullseyes. The boys ended the day with Casino Night, a fan favorite. Please listen to the newest episode of Cheers We’re at Camp, the Camp Timberlane Podcast.
