Second session is off and running!! We had an incredible weekend greeting the families of our 8-weekers, but lunchtime rolled around Sunday and we already had a dozen new second-session campers in camp. From there, camp filled back up over the afternoon and we were having our traditional first-night dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread, and a brownie a few hours later. We played some cabin games to wrap up the night, and then it was time for bed.
Our first full day of the session was spent in the usual reviews and observations, making sure everyone remembered our safety expectations and is also comfortable in the lake. Our 8-weekers had a morning getting to enjoy some clinics. After lunch we were ready to sign up for activities, and then get ready after dinner for our epic game of stealth and cunning: CAPTURE THE FLAG!! The photos tell the story, but playing capture the flag across the entire camp is truly a uniquely camp experience, and both the Blue and White teams brought 100% effort. It was a close game, but by the end of the night, the Blue Team was the victor.
Tuesday we started with picture day, and the campers received their blue 2023 Timberlane shirts. They were not required attire for the picture, but they do look pretty darned good! By the time we had photographed the entire camp and all our cabins, it was time to get activities going. We had First and Second period in the morning, and after lunch, we continued with Third and Fourth period, and a free period. After a pizza dinner, the campers played a new EP, Timberopoly, themed around getting properties by completing tasks. No one got a “Timberopoly” tonight, but it was a close contest.
Tomorrow is our first normal day, and we are excited for a great day.
