July 15th 2024 – First Full Day of 2nd Session

It was a beautiful day at Camp Timberlane and the first full day of second session! We started the day with an 8:30 pancake and sausage breakfast. After thoroughly stuffing our faces, we the boys headed back to their cabins until 9:15 when we began our first day assessments.

To ensure the safety of our campers on the waterfront, we test the boys’ swimming skills at the start of each session. Usually, this day is a little monotonous while we take care of business, but we shook things up this session! We had an awesome rotation of swim assessments, trampball university, village games, and tripper games! The boys had a lot of fun together this morning learning rules, testing their strokes, and playing games!

By the time we were finished, it was 12:45 and we were almost ready for lunch. After washing up, we headed into the lodge for grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was a delicious lunch, and once we finished eating, we had a short rest period followed by activity sign-ups. Each week, we have the boys sign up for four different activities: today they picked their first series. We offer a wide range of activities here, so the boys had plenty of options to choose from.

After signing up, we sent each cabin to compete in a bunch of different games. Chippewa and the Chalet played kickball, the intermediate boys played basketball, and the oldest boys played flag football and ultimate frisbee. It was a great way to get the boys active and engaged. We finished the cabin games around 6:00, which led us right into flagpole and dinner. We had a big portion of blackened chicken and rice tonight. It was so good and gave us the protein we needed before heading into our evening program… CAPTURE THE FLAG!

The boys were been divided up into blue and white teams (announced with a M&M and special t-shirt reveal) before the game began. Each team fought hard, pulling flags and running all across camp. It was so fun, and the boys had a great time getting to play the game. It was a packed and fun-filled day. Tomorrow we start activities and of course, there’s much more in store. Until then…

Benches Up!
