July 6th 2024 – Opening Ceremonies

Thanks to the sunny skies, it was an amazing day at Camp Timberlane! We started off the morning as usual: 8:00 wake up and an 8:30 breakfast. Today we had egg McMuffins with cereal, fruit, and yogurt available. After getting our necessary protein in, we headed back to the cabin for a quick cabin clean up before launching into first and second period.

It’s sad that our 3rd and final series is almost over, but the end being in sight hasn’t stopped our instructors from bringing the fun! Athletics today was awesome: the kids love the freedom to choose which games they play each day. Weights have also been going well, your kid might just come home with a whole new set of biceps! After second period ended, we had a morning free period. It was filled with trampball, pickleball, and disc golf.

Once we got to 1:00, it was lunchtime. We indulged in an all time camp favorite: chicken patties!!! With crispy fries to accompany the chicken sandwiches, the kids were in heaven. After an amazing lunch, we went into rest period. Today was letter writing day, so by 2:40, the boys brought their mail to the central area to be sent home. After a thorough rest, we jumped into third and fourth period. We didn’t have a free period this afternoon so we could get ready for tonight’s evening program: opening ceremony.

Each session, we have an all camp competition game. This session, we’re doing United Nations day. U.N. day is tomorrow, so tonight, we had all four teams prepare a skit to present their teams to one another. From 5:00-6:00, the boys learned their lines and prepared to wow the judges.

After flagpole and a roast beef dinner, the whole camp headed to the athletic field to watch and perform. Each of the four teams did an amazing job! There was tons of laughter: it was so fun to watch the kids perform in front of the camp and the performances really set the tone for tomorrow. We can’t wait for U.N. day tomorrow. Healthy competition and loads of fun await. Until then…
