Rainy Day Fun!!!
Although there was a little bit of heavy dew this morning, we still had an amazing day at camp! We started the day with delicious cheese omelets and hash browns. After getting our morning protein, we headed back to the cabins for a cabin clean-up. We then jumped into the first period of activities. Halfway through, we started getting some showers, but the activity directors made sure to not let a little water stop the fun! By the time the second period was about to begin, the dew started picking up, so we moved into rainy day activities.
Instead of just sulking in the cabins, we made sure that there were plenty of activities to engage in. In the lodge, we had a game frenzy; people were playing card games, there was a huge game of bingo (with canteen for the winners), board games were out, and improv games were being played. We even had some activities outside for the kids who didn’t mind a little rain. People were kicking the soccer ball around, playing nine square in the air, and we even got a rainy day nature hike in!! A little dew can’t stop the fun at a place like this!
After our rainy day activities, we headed back to the lodge for one of the highest rated camp meals: chicken patties and chocolate milk. After indulging in some delectable patties, we had a short rest period followed by a normal afternoon. We had 3rd and 4th period activities as usual since the rain let up and even got the tramps open for the afternoon free period. After a fettuccine alfredo dinner, we took our canteens to the campfire for a wonderful evening program. We sang traditional camp songs, heard a wonderful story, listened to some campers perform songs on guitar, and got some wise words from about creating a strong community. After this, we had our keylog ceremony, where campers were able to share their gratitude in front of the whole camp.
After the campfire, we headed back to the cabin to wind down for the night. The campfire really highlights the beauty of camp: hearing all the kids share how grateful they were for their parents, camp, and their new friends put smiles on our faces. It was a great day and we were so excited to see what tomorrow brings. Until then…
Benches up!
