SUMMER 2024 HAS BEGUN!!
The Chicago buses rolled in at 4:03, and the campers brought an explosion of energy into camp. Cheers, smiles, high-fives, and rekindled friendships followed immediately after the bus doors opened. It was truly magical to see a community come to life in just a few minutes.
The Chicago arrivals had time to unpack, tour camp, and await the arrival of our campers flying in. Once the bus from Minneapolis got in, we had our traditional spaghetti dinner with dessert, and (because, why not?) we had a canteen as well.
After a short free period and the first trampball game of the summer, we headed to the campfire area. We didn’t have a traditional campfire, which will be on Friday night, but we did have an opening campfire to set the tone for the summer. We applauded our first-year campers for having the courage to get on the bus/plane today and wrapped up by reminding the campers and staff how important the camp community is and how everyone contributes to it.
Tomorrow, we will do some swimming, and by the end of the day, we will be ready to start activities. That will be an update for tomorrow’s blog post!
Things are off to a great start! It was a fun staff training, but the campers rolling in today gave us a new high in our energy level here, and it will be an incredible session. Thanks for sharing your camper(s) with us!
