June 26th 2024 – 1st Cruiser Day

FIRST CRUISER DAY

It was a great day up here in the Northwoods because our first cruiser day went off without a hitch!! Cruiser days happen three times a session, and it’s some of our campers favorite days. Each week, the villages go on either bus, van, or in camp cruiser days. This week, the seniors did bus, the intermediates did in camp, and the juniors did van.

After we all ate a bagel and fruit breakfast, the day’s adventures began. The seniors boarded a school bus around 10 and set off on their day. They went mini golfing, to a water park, got dominos at the park, and even got to go karting!! They all had a blast and got to see the beauty of Wisconsin.

The Intermediates stayed in camp all day, and as the only village in camp, they had free rein of the activities. The cabins chose their own schedules: they got to play trampball, volleyball, disc golf, swim, get double ski runs and more! They got to get food from town for lunch and had a delicious BBQ dinner. They finished the day with an all-time favorite EP: what would you do for a Klondike bar? The village walked around camp and completed challenges to find out what they would do to get that Klondike bar.

As for the juniors, they had one of the most sought-after cruiser days: VAN!!! Each cabin in the village got a van, made a plan, and set off on their escapades. Some cabins decided to go to Little Girls Point for a swim in Lake Superior. Others went for the Eagle River waterpark route. All of them, though, had unreplicable days filled with unforgettable memories, so make sure to ask them what adventures they got up to! As a former camper, I still remember my van cruiser days vividly, so it was especially awesome to see the little ones gleam with excitement while recapping their days.

The day ended smoothly with all the vans and buses returning before 9pm. The kids took their nighttime meds and hit their pillows hard due to all the day’s excitement. Tomorrow’s a standard camp day (with an extra thirty minutes to sleep in). Activities, free periods, great food, and memories to be made. Until then…
