Catch of the Week!
It was another great day on Lake Towanda! Since we had such a crazy cruiser day yesterday, we let the boys sleep in a half hour later. When they got to the lodge at 9:00, they were greeted with a lovely French toast and bacon breakfast. After heaps of syrup and delicious strawberry jam, the kids headed back to their cabins for a quick clean-up before activities began.
By 10:45, we jumped into first and second period. Kids skied, scaled the wall, and played lots of different games around camp. The biggest achievement today took place at fishing. Right off the coast of camp, a 15-inch bass was caught!!! First period got to watch as our Head Cook B-Strain cut and fileted the fish. Since we slept in half an hour later, we didn’t have a morning free period. Instead, we jumped right into a lettuce chicken wrap lunch. That wasn’t it for the first-period fishing class, though. They all got to have a piece of the fresh catch. After getting our necessary protein, we feasted on Italian ice.
We then jumped into an all-camp pickup, followed by letter writing during rest period. Once they had a chance to re-energize, we sent the kids off to their afternoon activities. Third and Fourth period went smoothly. We had volleyball, basketball, improv, and so much more. Once the five o’clock bell rang, the kids got to enjoy their free period, which, of course, was filled with trampball.
After the afternoon events, we had a nice flagpole and an amazing Mongolian beef dinner. We then got canteen before jumping into our evening’s program: Cabin Challenges. Each cabin challenged another cabin to compete in a game. Some cabins played basketball, some played flag football, and some even got to play chess! Overall, it was a fun night with lots of effort from every cabin.
Today was a normal day at camp: who knew normal could be so fun?! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Until then…
