July 3, 2026 – UN Day

Today was United Nations Day, a fun filled action packed day! The camp was divided into four nations; Estonia, Finland, Iceland and Norway. We started the day with the olympic theme song at the flagpole before heading into a delicious breakfast of french toast and sausage.
After breakfast, the teams introduced themselves with short skits that were quite entertaining. Next up was the marathon where every camper runs a leg before the big finish in the central area. Two series of events capped off the morning, where there was a shoot out in soccer, canoe races at the waterfront, and checkers on the lodge porch. Hungry campers filled the lodge for hotdogs, french fries and ice cream sandwiches.
We had a short rest period, time to catch our breath before the big relay race where both campers and counselors had the opportunity to show of their speed. The third series of events did not disappoint with a home run at tennis baseball and an overtime floor hockey game. Then it was time for the tug, and the tug is really all that matters! The scores were so close that the tug of war decided the day.
In the end Estonia was triumphant but we all had fun! Tonight Brian Strain wowed everyone with an absolutely amazing Matzo ball soup and potato latkes, a fantastic meal to end the day. Some rain rolled in so we had a calm indoor free period after dinner and watermelon before bed. Tomorrow we get to sleep an hour later and we need it!
