June 28th 2024 – Rainy Day Fun

In true Camp Timberlane form, we took a rainy day and made the most of it! Our day began with delicious homemade blueberry muffins and some hard boiled eggs. We started first period only to find that Mother Nature had other plans. We quickly created a rainy day plan and campers spent the rest of the morning playing board games in the lodge, doing pottery or arts and crafts, playing guitar, playing gaga in the rec hall or climbing in the bouldering cave.

This afternoon was our first intercamp games this time with Camp Menominee. Our older campers traveled to Menominee while the younger campers stayed here. We were great sports and had lots of fun! The campers that did not play intercamp games enjoyed clinics, which included waterskiing, playing hoops, competing in a bass master competition at fishing, finishing up building rockets, and lots more.
Tonight for dinner, the kitchen staff prepared an amazing Thanksgiving dinner, delicious turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and green bean casserole.  After dinner we had our weekly campfire, this time we enjoyed our campfire nice and dry in the rec hall. Eli regaled us with a story, we had amazing music from a couple campers and Ryan talked about being good stewards of the environment. Ending the night was the torch ceremony for United Nations Day. Four campers were chosen from each village to lead their countries on UN Day next Saturday. They will be busy picking teams, creating an opening ceremony, and writing an inspiring team cheer. We are proud of all the campers who were selected tonight, as they embody the best of our Timberlane campers.
We are hoping for some sunshine tomorrow, but know that no matter the weather, it will be a great day at camp.
Benches up,
Corrie, Ryan and Desi
