Hello Camp Families!
Today was another fantastic day, with perfect weather, some great meals, and wrapping up with a fantastic visit to a nearby girl’s camp. The sunny skies and 70 degree weather was a pleasant shift from the cooler temperatures and moderate clouds and occasional rain we’ve been enduring the past few days. Today, the weather cooperated and we got in a full day of activities.
Our meals today included our usual made-from-scratch cooking our kitchen prides itself on, so we started the day with french toast and bacon, with a lunch of chicken caesar salad pitas, and dinner tonight was the classic meatloaf with some sweet potatoes. We can always tell how well a meal goes over by how much comes back to the window during clean-up, and today there was little in the way of leftovers. A sure sign of success!
After dinner, the boys freshened up a bit, and then we boarded some busses and vans and headed to Camp Marimeta for few hours. We arrived to music playing, lots of games ready-to-play, along with popcorn and most of all lots of socializing for both the campers and the camp staffs. Marimeta are always gracious hosts, and it’s very fun to see siblings re-connect after being apart for a few weeks. It seems like even the most difficult brother-sister relationships are a little easier when they reconnect at a camp social! After a couple hours, it was time to head home, and we got back a little late, but definitely worth the travel over. Thanks again to Camp Marimeta!
Tomorrow is Friday, so it’s a typical day here, and we’ll wrap up the day and the week with our traditional campfire. But we’ll get more into that tomorrow night.
For now, benches up! Have a great Friday!
Best wishes,
Jeff Melrose
