The second day of camp was filled with excitement, learning, and plenty of camp spirit, even though Mother Nature had other plans for us! Campers started the morning with a hearty breakfast of pancakes and bacon before heading out for a busy day.
With cool temperatures and rainy weather settling in over camp, we took our swim assessments indoors at the local high school pool. Campers traveled in groups throughout the day to complete their swim evaluations, helping our staff ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe and fun summer in the water. The pool provided a great opportunity for campers to get comfortable in the water and demonstrate their swimming abilities.
While some groups were at the pool, the rest of camp stayed busy learning about some classic camp favorites: Trampball, Tushball, and Wilderness Trips. Campers were introduced to the rules, strategies, and framework involved in both games, and also learned about all the wilderness trips opportunities for the summer. It was great to see everyone getting involved and building confidence in these camp traditions.
Another exciting part of the day was signing up for the first series of camp activities and wilderness trips. Campers had the chance to choose the activities and adventures they’re most excited about, helping set the stage for an incredible start to the summer. Whether they’re looking forward to honing a new skill, spending time on the waterfront, or heading out on a wilderness adventure, there is plenty for everyone to be excited about.
After a full day of swimming, games, planning adventures, and making new friends, everyone gathered for a delicious stir fry dinner. It was the perfect way to wrap up another memorable day at camp.
Although the weather kept us from some of our usual outdoor plans, campers showed incredible flexibility and positive attitudes throughout the day. It’s already exciting to see new friendships forming and camp spirit growing as we settle into the summer. Day 2 may have been rainy, but it was full of important camp traditions and exciting opportunities that have everyone looking forward to the weeks ahead.
Stay tuned for more from camp!
