Hello again!
After last night’s late night, we started the morning a little late. That gave us now only some much enjoyed extra rest, but we also took a little longer cabin cleanup time to get the final laundry bags for the summer together. That was a bit tough to have to announce this morning at breakfast, and the applause and table pounding that generally go with announcing laundry day was decidedly muted.
Nevertheless, the laundry got out, and the morning activities went as typically as they ever do. We did have the treat of a lunch consisting of chicken patty sandwiches, french fries, and chocolate milk, followed by a dessert of warm peach cobbler with ice cream, which is a 5/5 star lunch around here. Truly, it may be my favorite meal of the summer, and the lack of food that went back to the window at the end of the meal was evidence that I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
This afternoon we got most of the afternoon activities in, but some summer pop-up storms sent us back to the cabins a bit early to ride out the rain we expected. It never came. We call it “The Timberdome” but we are very fortunate in that most lines of rain/storms seem to break up shortly before getting here, and today it happened again. I am currently knocking on wood.
Tonight’s evening program was “Blue and White Games” which are basic sports competitions where campers compete based on their assigned blue or white team. It’s a lot of energy, but by the end the campers were getting a little weary, as we’ve had some long days. Tonight it’s warm and humid, but hopefully sleep won’t be too difficult. We are officially in our final 7 full days starting tomorrow, and there’s so much to be excited about in the days to come. We will keep you posted!
Thanks for reading!
Best wishes,
