Hi!
(Sorry this is a little late… we thought we hit the “Post” button last night! Today will be a double post day!)
For those of us who write our blogs to you, we recognize that a daily weather summary is not your primary interest in stopping by to read the daily post. That said, I apologize up front for sharing that today’s weather was absolutely gorgeous, and it honestly might be some of the best in the country. Today was sunny and warm enough to swim but not so hot to make our active activities exhausting within a few minutes. It’s REALLY nice, and it looks like that will be the story for the next week.
Tonight was wing night for dinner. Wing night is a fun night in camp. Scalloped potatoes, some peas, and an almost limitless supply of buffalo or barbecue chicken wings. The smell of the frying wings fills camp about 90 minutes before dinner, so no one is surprised when we announce the meal at our flag lowering ceremony.
The evening program was called “Storming the Manor” referring to our office building, “The Manor.” Some years we have stormed Hogwarts, the Batcave, and other places that we can use for theming the stations for the evening. The gist of the program is the campers have to work as a team, traveling to a dozen different stations and completing some task to earn a clue or piece of a puzzle that will allow them to get the final event: canteen for the evening, which our canteen staff had left locked up and left for a night off. It’s like a more physical escape room, in a way. They gotta work to earn it, and with all the running around they have to do, they will definitely have earned a snack. Some of the stations involved a pool noodle duel with one of the staff, serenading our Chalet members, basketball hoop shoots, and many others. When you check out the photos from the program, hopefully that gives a little context for what you’re looking at.
Tomorrow night is campfire, and we can’t believe we’re already almost a week into the session!
Benches up!
