Hello again! This morning was another day that had a bit of haze, but otherwise really nice weather. We started with a Sunday morning Lazy Breakfast, which around here means the admin do the cooking and the kids come in and order eggs, toast, or bacon the way they want it. I make the bullseyes, which are bread with a hole in it, filled with egg and topped with bacon, cheese, and/or cinnamon sugar. They are pretty tasty, although the ones with all three toppings were titled “Abominations” by our past cook. They’re my number one best seller.
We had some big plans for the afternoon, so we started our morning a little sooner than usual, and got Activity Periods 1-3 in before lunch. This allowed us to finish lunch, and then get the camp back in the lodge immediately after a quick clean up to allow the campers to watch the World Cup Final game. The game went much later into the afternoon than expected, but most of the campers stayed for the whole thing. Campers who didn’t want to watch the game had other activities running to keep them busy, although most were interested in the outcome of the game after it went into overtime. Just after 5pm here, the game ended, and we went directly into our 4th period.
That took us into our first all camp barbecue dinner of the session, which was burgers, and then an evening program where the staff gets to demonstrate their acting chops. It’s our All Camp Clue game, where the staff play suspects and the campers must use logic and speed to figure out whodunit along with the location, accomplice, cause of death and the motive. First team to figure it out gets a soda with their lunch later this week. Tonight, the pizzaman did it with the help of an astronaut, using a spoon in the lodge, but it was an accident. A true crime story, it is not.
Tomorrow it’s time for our first cruiser day, and the intermediates are in camp, the seniors are headed out on a bus, and the juniors get to adventure around the area as cabin groups in a camp van. We’ll get you all the details tomorrow. It should be another amazing, beautiful day.
Have a great night. Thanks for reading!
Best wishes,
Jeff Melrose
