Today was a bit of a bittersweet day. We had our morning flagpole, and we had to announce the start of our last series of activities for the summer. We are 11 days, as of this morning, from sending the boys home on August 7th, and saying “the last series” made that date uncomfortably close. It has been a truly great session so far, despite some interesting weather, both hot and, at times, smokey. I know what lies ahead on the calendar, and it promises to be a truly amazing last 10 days of camp, but that also means it will go by far too quickly. Bittersweet.
Today was a late-start morning, with a sleep-in to get a bit of extra rest after a busy cruiser day, but the weather was truly perfect for whatever activity the campers started. After lunch we had a rest period including a letter-writing-day, so keep an eye on the mailbox. Thiis afternoon we had the usual 3rd and 4th periods, but followed those up with a 5pm cabin time for each cabin to put the final touches on their karaoke night performance.
Karaoke Night is a fun evening, full of energy and the cabins encouraging each other and cheering on their dance performances. Some skewed more silly, and others were genuinely impressively choreographed. You’ll get to see plenty of photos of all the fun shortly on the camp photo album, and I’m sure a few performances will make it into the camp reunion video this off-season.
We are now preparing for Titan’s Day, and the teams are planning opening ceremonies, figuring out which campers will represent their team in each event, and making headbands. More details to come in the days ahead as we get ready for the big day this Saturday!
Thanks for reading, and have a great evening!
Best wishes,
