Hello Timberfamilies!
Well, some days go according to the Google sheet we keep the camp calendar on, and some of them require the ability to pivot and take the day in a new direction. Those days can be frustrating, because getting things right for the kids while moving quickly can be a tricky task. However, one of the best things about Timberlane is our admin team and our supporting players of the village directors and counselors, and even the kitchen… they’re REALLY good at changing the plan and keeping the day moving. After monitoring the immediate and longer-term forecast, we made changes to our daily schedule.
We had a plan for the evening, and by the end of rest period we had a plan made for Friday also. The kitchen pitched in with an early dinner, and by 6:00 we had vans rolling out of camp headed for the movie theater in town, where the whole camp enjoyed air conditioned air, AND the movie Toy Story 5. And popcorn. So much popcorn.
We got everyone back home and settled in for a quiet evening back in the cabins, taking it easy but also enjoying a little change of pace from the typical day. It was a good day, and it made me grateful for the amazing team of administrators, counseling staff, and support staff that I get to work with daily here. There’s a reason I’ve been around 34 summers!
As far as the plan for Friday… Well, just a quick peek. It involves bowling and a water park. I know I’M excited for it!
Thanks for checking in with us!
Best wishes,
Jeff Melrose
