A Note from Johnny & Rachel

To Our Camp Timberlane Family,

As you may know from the recent email sent out by Mike and Leslie, Rachel, Emma, and I are writing to let you know of a big change in our lives. We wanted to personally write a note to share the news, and let all of you know how much all of you and Camp Timberlane mean to us. First of all, Rachel, Emma, and I would like to thank all of you for the best summers of our lives over the past 10+ years (though just one great one for Emma). It is hard to imagine what a summer away from camp would be like. That is why it is with some difficultly and mixed emotions that we write to tell you that we will not be returning to Camp Timberlane this summer. We are sad to think that we will not be with the camp family that we love so much and have shared so many great times with, but we are also very excited to take these experiences, and what we have learned from all of you, and face the challenge of sharing those things with another great group of campers, families, and camp staff.

We will be joining the Black family and another fantastic group of camp people at Lake Owego Camp for Boys in Pennsylvania, and we look forward to a great future with them. Making camping and working with people our life’s work has long been our dream and passion, and this is the opportunity for us to make it a reality. We are very enthusiastic and optimistic about this big step, and we are able to take it with confidence because we know that we have been so well prepared for it by all of you. We would like to thank the entire Camp Timberlane community, past and present, for all the memories that we have shared, all that we have learned, and for the pieces of all of you that we will take with us to our new home at Lake Owego Camp.

We can’t express in words how much all your support, guidance, and friendship means to us, but we will try to express it through the work we do at Lake Owego Camp by bringing the magic of Camp Timberlane and our summers there to our new camp community. We do know that we will be sure to keep in touch, and we hope that you do the same. We wish all of you a fantastic summer, and we know that there is plenty of camping left to be done for all of us. Just as we would end a campfire, one of Rachel’s and my favorite nights of each week, I’ll finish with some words that seem more fitting than ever; “May the trails that we follow, though they be of different paths, lead straight unto him.”

Until our paths cross again,

Johnny, Rachel, and Emma Waszczak
