Saturday June 22nd
We woke up to rain, made our rainy day plans, had a delicious breakfast, cleaned the cabins, and then…..had a perfectly regular day. We were able to do all of our activity periods and enjoy two free periods with tramps that had dried out enough to play trampball. With the camp being blue or white for life, we are taking our challenges much more seriously, so the admin team spent the afternoon tabulating points to determine who was in the lead. After a fan-favorite buffalo wing dinner, we announced that the white team was ahead 512 to 446. After dinner and another visit to get candy and canteen, we had an evening program of blue and white games. Campers had the opportunity to play a variety of games, including the brand-new disc golf course! We will be spending time tomorrow calculating the scores from the games to see if the blue team made a comeback tonight.
As a camp mom myself, it is so wonderful to see kids playing, having fun, and enjoying nature. At home, I sometimes struggle to get my kids away from their phones, TV shows, or video games. I love camp for so many reasons, but one of the biggest ones is that they are screen-free here at camp. What we do love about screens is our ability to share the camp experience with you. Thanks to all of you who have been following our daily blog and checking out the pictures online. I love the facial recognition feature on the Campanion app, and I highly recommend using it for your camper if you are not already.
Tomorrow is our first lazy breakfast of the summer, and it is one of my favorite days at camp! Campers can get up early or sleep in a bit, but either way, they are treated to made-to-order omelets or bulls-eyes. I will be up early and in the kitchen getting the food ready, so I’ll sign off for now and get some sleep. Tomorrow is looking like another amazing day here in the Northwoods!
Cheers
Corrie (Assistant Director)
