It was another great day in the Northwoods! Sundays at camp always begin a little differently, everyone gets to enjoy a relaxing Lazy Breakfast. Campers and staff wandered over to the lodge at their own pace, where our admin crew was serving up fresh omelets and eggs cooked just about any way you could imagine. It was the perfect way to ease into another great day.
Instead of our regular activity schedule, the morning featured one of camp’s favorite traditions: Counselor Hunt! Counselors scattered across camp, finding the most creative hiding spots they could, while campers searched high and low to track them down. Since Counselor Hunt is also a Blue and White competition, every camper was determined to earn as many points as possible for their team. This took us all the way up to lunch where we enjoyed chili and cornbread.
Following lunch, the entire camp gathered on the athletic field for our all camp photo before heading to the cabins for a relaxing rest period. The biggest surprise of the day came later that afternoon with the debut of one of our newest programs: a Fortnite Battle Royale brought to life around camp! Campers were divided into squads, each led by one or more of our CITs, and set off across camp scavenging for gear, supplies, and in-game currency to prepare for battle. Once equipped, squads competed to eliminate other teams, collect loot, and survive as long as possible. The combination of teamwork, strategy, and nonstop action made it an instant hit!
After a delicious BBQ dinner, we slowed things down with an Organized Free Period to wrap up the day. With a wide variety of activities available, campers had the freedom to choose how they wanted to spend their evening. Today reminded us that some of the best camp moments are the ones you never see coming. Stay tuned tomorrow for another update from camp!
Benches Up,
