Hello Timberfamilies!
Every morning, we gather at the flagpole to start our day. We play some higher-energy music to energize our campers, although it makes little difference for our senior villagers, who literally appear to have rolled out of bed, their feet landing in a pair of nearby shoes, usually their own, and they shuffle out to the main athletic field. Imagine zombies with bed head, and that’s the general energy level. The juniors always bring a little more enthusiasm, for sure. This morning, I ran the flagpole, and asked the campers what breakfast was (the junior village always knows) and gave a brief preview of the day. Two campers raised the flag, and we walked in. It’s a new tradition we started this year, and it’s nice to start the day together.
From there, it was a textbook typical day. The weather was lightly clouded sky with mid-70 degree temperatures, and activities ran as expected. Today was letter writing day, so hopefully you’ll see that mail arrive at home sometime in the next 3-10 days.
Tonight we had chicken fajitas for dinner, and then a really nice campfire with lots of music from our campers as well as an alum who does some great covers of what the campers might call “oldies” or “classic rock.” “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” and “A Boy Named Sue” have become staples of our campfire since last summer, and we appreciate “M.P.” coming to play for us. The kids since along with enthusiasm every time.
The night weather continues into the weekend here, and we are starting to ramp up preparation for our big all-camp competition, Titans Day. It should be a great week ahead!
Thanks for reading. Have a lovely weekend!
Best wishes,
